 Word For The Day

Hey kids!

Let's play "The Word For The Day".

The word for today is "spudnut".

And remember, after the first person says the word of the day, everybody scream.

And if you're wondering what the word of the day means, ask Captain Morgan.

 Disappearance of the Blogs

In the past two days, I have had two blogs disappear into the Davey Jones Locker of cyberspace. Yesterday, I wrote a blog about this beautiful woman I had met a few years back. As I went to submit the blog, an error occurred, sending the post to the cyberspace black hole. Then today, I wrote another post about the recent alligator attacks in Florida, only to have that one accompany the previous blog in the cyberspace version of the Bermuda Triangle.

I can hear the voice of Robert Stack from Unsolved Mysteries right now talk of the disappearing blogs as some struggling actor portraying me is sitting down at the computer in a dimly lit room as eerie music plays in the background.

"What caused the disappearance of Big Al's blogs?" "Was it caused by a black hole in the Internet?" "Did aliens have anything to do with it?" "Was the NSA in on it?" "Was it Bigfoot?"

"How the FUCK am I suppose to know. I just read the stinking script these lame writers give me!"

Anyway, I have been busy the last few days, so I tried to write my blog during my lunch break at work. For some reason, an error occurred both times, and my post was lost. I do not have any problems posting comments to fellow bloggers, but I have noticed that if I write something of length, the time expires due to security reasons.

Huh?

Another problem I have with the computer at work is the blocker. This was installed to prevent children from getting onto web sites that may be offensive. There are times I am on Blogstream reading someone's blog, and the photos are not displayed. But if someone is writing erotica, the text is there in it's entirety. Another problem for Unsolved Mysteries to solve.

"Why is there text, but no photos?" "Is the Loch Ness Monster responsible for this?"

Insert eerie music and fog machine.

By the way, I never have been offended by anyone's blogs. There are a few that are in deep left field, but that is what makes Blogstream all the more interesting.

I was really mad because I thought these two blogs were special, and now I will have to wait until I get that emotion back that I had when I was writing.

This is the main reason I hate writing on a computer. If you don't have it on a disk and something goes wrong, it slips away. No rough draft. No carbon copy. Not even the scribbled sentences with proofreading marks and crossed out words on a pad of paper. It just vanishes.

Just like the beautiful woman I was writing about.

 Things My Mother Taught Me

1.)My mother taught me to appreciate a job well done:"If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning!"

2.)My mother taught me religion:"You better pray that will come out of the carpet!"

3.)My mother taught me about time travel:"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!"

4.)My mother taught me logic:"Because I said so, that's why."

5.)My mother taught me more logic:"If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me."

6.)My mother taught me foresight:"Make sure you wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident."

7.)My mother taught me irony:"Keep crying, and I'll give you something to cry about."

8.)My mother taught me the science of osmosis:"Shut your mouth and eat your supper."

9.)My mother taught me about contortionism:"Will you look at that dirt on the back of your neck."

10.)My mother taught me about stamina:"You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."

11.)My mother taught me about the weather:"This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it."

12.)My mother taught me about hypocrisy:"If I told you once, I told you a million times. Don't exaggerate."

13.)My mother taught me about the circle of life:"I brought you into this world, and I can take you out of it!"

14.)My mother taught me about behavior modification:"Stop acting like your father!"

15.)My mother taught me about envy:"There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you."

16.)My mother taught me about anticipation:"Just wait until we get home."

17.)My mother taught me about receiving:"You are going to get it when we get home!"

18.)My mother taught me medical science:"If you don't stop crossing your eyes , they are going to get stuck that way."

19.)My mother taught me ESP:"Put your sweater on;don't you think I know when you are cold."

20.)My mother taught me humor:"When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me."

21.)My mother taught me how to become an adult:"If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up."

22.)My mother taught me genetics:"You're just like your father."

23.)My mother taught me about my roots:"Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?"

24.)My mother taught me about wisdom:"When you get to be my age, you'll understand."

25.)My mother taught me about justice:"One day you will have kids, and I hope they too turn out just like you."

This is something that my sister e-mailed me. I do not know who the author is, but I thought this was too funny not to share. So I hope you have a Happy Mother's Day. And I hope you don't use one of these lines on your children.

 Fun Fact Friday

It's Friday, so that means that it's time for Fun Fact Friday. And as Jacked Gleason would say, " AND AWAY WE GO!!!!"

1.) My favorite baseball team, the Cleveland Indians, is currently in third place in the American League Central.

2.) My second favorite team, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, are in last place in the American League East.

3.) My second favorite basketball team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, is down two games to the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

This is getting too depressing, so here are two more that you can look forward to...

4.) The DaVinci Code with Tom Hanks comes out next Friday, May 19. It's about time a movie comes out that I really want to see.

5.) Mother's Day is Sunday, May 14. Although my mother has since passed away, I will be thinking about her. And to you out there, may you wish your mother a Happy Mother's Day. I may try to write a post before then, but if I don't, may any of the ladies on Blogstream that have children have a Happy Mother's Day.

Take care, and have a great weekend.

Go Cavs!

 Pink Baseball Bats

For Mother's Day Weekend, Major League Baseball will be using pink baseball bats. No joke.

Louisville Slugger, the company that manufactures baseball bats for Major League Baseball, will be making 400 pink baseball bats to be used by over 50 major league baseball players. The bats, to be used on Mother's Day Weekend, are meant to bring awareness to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

After the bats are used, they will be autographed by the teams and auctioned off to raise money for the foundation to use for breast cancer research.

I would love to have one of those bats, but I know that I couldn't afford it. I hope that Louisville Slugger will make a replica bat for sale to the public, with proceeds going to charity. If they did, I think I would buy two.

I also hope that this catches on with other sports. Anyone curious to see what a pink football, basketball, or hockey puck would look like?
