 Morning After the Christmas Party

Steve was out the night before with fellow co-workers at the office Christmas party. After everyone left the office, several employees went out to a popular night club to continue the Christmas cheer. Steve went out with his co-workers, only to have a little too much to drink.

The following day, Steve woke up with a terrible hangover. He didn't even remember how he got home. His head was throbbing, and he felt like he had been hit with a baseball bat. The pain was so bad, he couldn't even see out of his right eye. Looking over to the night stand next to the bed with his left eye, he found a glass of water with two aspirin next to the glass. Then he noticed a red rose with a letter under it. After he took the aspirin, he began to make an attempt to read the note that his wife left him. It read:

Honey,

Went out Christmas shopping.

Breakfast is in the oven.

I Love You!

Steve finds enough strength to get out of bed and notices as he walks by the mirror that he has a black eye.

"What the hell did I do last night?". Steve asked himself.

Slowly, he made his way down the hallway. To his left, he looked over into the living room and noticed that the standing coat rack by the front door was broken. He then walked into the to the kitchen to see his son at the table eating breakfast. Steve looked in the oven, and sure enough, there was a hot breakfast of sausage and pancakes.

He sat down and asked his son what happened the night before.

"Well, you had too much to drink last night at the Christmas party, so your fellow co-workers called for a cab to take you home.", his son told him.

"Then after you came in, you stumbled into the coat rack and broke it. After that, you tried to regain your balance and fell into the closet door knob, giving you a black eye."

"Finally," Steve's son told him, "Mom got you into the bedroom and got you to lay down on the bed. As she tried to take off your pants, you told her,'Get your hands off of me lady, I'm a married man!' Then you passed out."

Broken furniture: $85.26

Hot breakfast: $4.20

Red rose: $3.00

Two aspirin: $0.38

Saying the right thing at the right time: Priceless

 About Friday's Test

As I sat down at the computer this morning, I noticed several pieces of snack chips on the floor near the computer area. At work, we have a computer lab for the children in our after school program to use. Every morning I come in, there are cookie crumbs, potato chips, or other various chips either on the floor or on the desk. And no matter how careful I am, I always get crumbs on the desk when I use the computer during my break. At least I clean up after myself.

Now you know where the inspiration for Friday's test came from.

I walk around the neighborhood center, and I can usually tell what a co-worker had for lunch by just looking around their work area. Shredded lettuce on the desk or floor, it must have been either burgers or tacos. Tomato sauce on the door knob. It must have been pizza. Either that or it's ketchup from the french fries. Or as the English would say, "chips". And did you know that what we here in America refer to as chips, the English call those "crisps". No matter what you call them, a few will find their way to the floor. And the ants are eating well!

Another food problem we have at the neighborhood center is soda. If I were to buy an after school camper a soda, then call a wagering service in Las Vegas, chances are I will get 2-1 odds that the child will spill the soda. You know where I'm putting my money.

After Memorial Day, we will be starting our summer day camp for children. It is a program for school children whose parents work. The parents bring the children to our facility, and they are in supervised care throughout the day. We have activities for them, as well as a weekly field trip and swimming daily.

So you're asking what this has to do with food. If you have children, you know what it is like cleaning up after them when they eat. Now think what it is like cleaning up after one hundred children.

Yeah, it's right around the corner. The ants are moving in already!

 Behind and Catching Up.

Today is the first day that I have felt good in over a week. Last Tuesday I was at work, and I bent over to pick something up. A sharp jolt shot across my back around the waist, causing severe pain. If I sat for a long period of time and stood up from my seat, I would have to stand straight up for a moment before I could walk. To pick something up from the floor or tie my shoes was an effort.

After getting some rest and taking pain killers, the back pain has gone. After feeling better, I have had to catch up on some chores around the apartment and catch up with some people I have not seen in awhile. I was reading the blog "And The Survey Says..." recently, and the question was which household chore you like doing the most as well as which household chore you like doing the least. My answer to the latter was dusting. I hate dusting!

Needless to say, with being out for a week, I have a lot of dusting to do.

I could have done a few chores, but if you are not feeling well, you do not feel like doing much of anything. At least I caught up on some laundry this week, as well as some television.

I was home last night getting my e-mail and reading a few blogs while I had the television on. The season finale of Gilmore Girls was on. I had to get my Lauren Graham fix. She is a member of B.I.F.A. What's B.I.F.A.? It stands for "Brunettes I Find Attractive".

It started as I was in junior high and I saw Lynda Carter playing Wonder Woman. I guess it was the dark hair and blue eyes. Since then, members of B.I.F.A. have included Barbi Benton, Veronica Hamill, Sherilyn Fenn, Margot Kidder, Carla Gugino, Lucy Lawless, and Jennifer Connelly.

I was reading an interview with Lauren Graham, and there is a rumor going around Hollywood that a movie version of Wonder Woman is planned, and that Graham is under consideration for the role. Graham responded in the interview that she would love to play the part. I would love to see that movie.

I have never really followed Gilmore Girls, but whenever I have watched it, I always have to have a good laugh. A small town full of eccentrics, and never a dull moment. I am surprised that Graham has never been nominated for an Emmy, as well as the actress who plays her mother, Kelly Bishop.

As far as favorite television show, that would be 24. Lost, Desperate Housewives, and Grey's Anatomy would be next. And when I get a chance, I'll watch Two And A Half Men, CBS Sunday Morning, and 60 Minutes. And if I am up late on Saturday, its Saturday Night Live.

Right now Lost is on. I am going to finish this blog, and watch the show. As I have typed this, my back has no pain. I can get up out of my seat and walk with no effort. I am feeling better now, and hopefully, I can get caught up on much needed housework.

I still hate dusting, though.

 BrokebackMountain2

It would figure that as soon as a motion picture is successful at the box office, the sequel is already planned.
