As I burned the midnight oil writing about my Friday night adventures, I became more tired and went to bed. I wanted to write more, but I really needed the sleep. And the horror movie was bad. The make up effects were just awful. At least the cleavage of the Elvira wannabe was good.
As for Friday, I decided to go out for a few beers after I completed my sushi mission. There is a place I go to called Sportstown Billiards on Robinson Street in the Colonialtown section of Orlando. The place has been there for decades. The current owners, Lee and Vicki, are two of the nicest people you would want to meet. The service is great, as well as the selection of beers. And all of it is served nice and cold. Nothing better after work on a hot summer day!
There are several billiard tables throughout, although on the weekend, there is usually a waiting list. Off to the main area is a room with darts and other games. I usually have a few beers at the bar, watch the game on the television, and talk sports with Lee. We both have solutions to the Orlando Magic's problems. Why the Magic's general manager has not call us for our advice is beyond me.
Sportstown Billiards has a website, www.sportstownbilliards.com. It has information about the establishment, including some interesting history.
After watching the White Sox play the Astros, I paid my tab, said good night and left. Not having been out on the town for awhile, I decided to stop at Lou's Lounge, which is around the corner on Bumby Avenue.
Lou's is a neighborhood lounge that has been there for decades as well. It has a full bar, whereas Sportstown only has beer, wine, and other bottled beverages. There are pool tables and televisions as well as one of those arcade games that has the crane you lower in an attempt to select a stuffed animal. Watching people trying to snag a teddy beer can be amusing, especially if they "almost have it".
There is a stage for bands, but no bands play there. A juke box provides the music. On stage, however, are life like figures of Elvis Presley and Jake from the Blues Brothers. Both are holding a microphone as they stand motionless and watch the patrons play eight ball on the nearest pool table. Why Elvis and Jake are there, I haven't a clue. And I never asked, either.
I do not go out to Sportstown or Lou's much anymore. And as I was there, I remembered how much the cigarette smoke bothered my eyes. I also remembered how sad it is to watch some people when they have been drinking. Or how funny people can be, such as the young lady in the mini skirt that was a little too mini.

Throughout the night, she would be pulling the skirt down, only for it to rise back up. I do not know what was funnier, her pulling on the skirt, or the number of men tilting their heads as they watched her.
"Uh, excuse me, but what good is tilting your head going to do?"
The smoke had got the best to me as I eyes were burning. I said good night to the bartender and left, opening the door to the fresh air that awaited.
The next time I go out, it will most likely be to watch a live band. I haven't seen any good live music lately, and I really enjoy listening to live music. Especially when you can get up and dance.
And it beats watching several guys tilting their heads in various positions as some short skirt comes by.
Maybe I will look for a good band after my next sushi mission.
And I'll take SpringMoon's advice when I see the name of the place.
If it's Stan's Sushi Shed, I'll just keep driving by.
