Thoughts from a drinking buddy

 Baby Bird

One day last week at work, I happened to look out the window to see a baby blackbird. It was just about full grown, but not quite fully developed. As I opened the door to take a closer look, I could tell that the bird was not hurt. It was, however, very frightened.

It's mother was nearby, keeping an eye on her baby while making a noise to warn me of going near. I kept my distance and made sure the baby was fine.

Then the still developing blackbird looked up at me, took a shit, and ran off towards the bushes. I am glad that humans do not have this reaction to me.

As the baby ran off, it made an attempt to use its wings to fly off. It was successful for about two feet, only to crash land on its beak, shake itself off, and run into the bushes.

Gotta work on that landing, baby!

 Up And Running

Good morning everybody!

The computers are finally up and running in the neighborhood center's computer lab, so I just wanted to drop a line to say hello.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and I will post another writing in my blog when I get a chance.

Is it me, or had April been a busy month?

 Fire Station One

Fire Station One is located in downtown Orlando on Magnolia Avenue. City Hall sits on the next block over on Orange Avenue. There is a lot of construction going on in downtown Orlando, and there are plans for a new performing arts center across City Hall. In order to make room for the new performing arts center, plans call for demolition of Fire Station One and move it to an old location in the downtown area.

One site that has been suggested for the new fire station would be the old Lynx bus terminal. It would be a good site for the new fire station, since it will be in the center of town.

Several of the new buildings in downtown Orlando that are currently under construction are being labeled as "multi-use". This means that the building will have offices, retail, and residential properties.

Now the City Council has plans to make the new fire station as a multi-use property. Someone proposed an idea that the fire station will use the bottom floors of the new building, and that the top floors be made into condominiums.

Could you imagine being asleep in the middle of the night, only to be awaken by sirens?

Think of it this way, if your condo catches on fire, the response time for the fire department should be short.

 The Daily News

With the computers being down for repair in the computer lab, I have not been able to use the computers to get online while I am on break.
Therefore, I have gone back to an old habit of mine in order to get the information I want.

The daily newspaper!

Believe me, when all I have to read is the Orlando Sentinel, it can be quite scary. What I wouldn't give for the Tampa Tribune or the St. Petersburg Times. Since the Sentinel is the only local paper, I have no choice.

I usually read the sports, comics, weather, and the horoscope first thing in the morning. As for the local and national news, I read those stories along with the editorial later in the day.

When I am online, I get my news, sports, and weather first. Then I sneak over to Blogstream and check out the blogs.

Can't do that with the newspaper.

Life Is Not One Big Joke is not on A2. The only blond in the newspaper is Blondie, and I do not think she is six foot. Girl and Dog in the City is not in the comics, and Whit's editorials are nowhere to be found. Just the editorial on why a new arena should be built with taxpayer's money.

There is a quote for the day, but no prose from Prank, Colo, or poemmeback. There are photos, but none of the photos I see on Blogstream. Photos of the sunsets or someone's children. Or someone's photo of their pet, whether it be a dog, cat or parrot.

So for now, the only time I can get on Blogstream is at home. So if you have not seen a comment from me, I will get to you soon.

Now, where is that sports section?

 We're Talkin' Baseball

We're talkin' baseball....

I have not felt like writing much lately. A few weeks ago, someone from Blogstream tagged me to write five things I have heard in my life and have learned. I figured why not, since it should be fun. The five things I wrote about were things that were not fun, but five things I have kept silent about over the years. Things that you tend to store in that dark attic of the mind. Some things that some people may find politically incorrect.

I'm not making any apologies. Those are feelings that I have, and I will probably not be able to change my mind.

Baseball season started a few weeks ago, and WOPX56 in Orlando has been televising the Tampa Bay Devil Rays games. The Baltimore Orioles are in town playing the Devil Rays, then the Cleveland Indians come in to Tampa for the weekend. Right now, the Orioles lead,1-0, in the second.

For some reason I feel like the little fat kid from my childhood. I would watch the Indians with each chance I get, clutching my baseball in my baseball glove. The baseball and glove are gone, but that excitement is there. I guess because it is a new season, and the hope that things will be better than last season.

The computers have been down in the computer lab for over a week now. I have not been able to get on the computer during my break time at work. So if I want to get to Blogstream, I have to do it on my home computer. Just like when you are using the computer at the public library, and you're trying to download porn.

Like as if there is a connection between the two. Depending on which blog you read, I guess. I guess if you're at Blogstream or at a porn site, do it in the privacy of your own home, huh?

For now, I feel like watching baseball. When you work seven days a week, you relax whenever you get the chance. When I feel like writing again, I'll leave a post. And maybe between innings, I can comment on blogs.

Or when the computers are up and running in the computer lab. But I have a feeling that by the time the computers are fixed, football season will be around the corner,

As for the five things that I have heard in my life and learned from, I would like to try it again. So here it goes:

1.) You will be able to count all of your true friends on one hand. Two of those people will be you mom and dad.

2.) Sex is just like riding a bicycle. Once you learn how to do it, you never forget.

3.) When it rains, it pours. Both in the literal and figurative sense.

4.) You never forget the name of the girl you lost your virginity to.

And since I have been talking about baseball:

5.) A beer and a hot dog just tastes better at the ball park.

And it's the fourth inning, and the Devil Rays are up,4-1.

We're talkin' Willie, Mickey, and the Duke. Say Hey, Say Hey.....
