 Word For The Day

Hello folks!

It's Wednesday, and the word for today is.........

One of the campers from our out of school vacation daze holiday camp was sent back to the building from the park today to see the facility supervisor.

Apparently, the camp participant got into a fight with another camper while the children were playing outside at the park. During the fight, the boy used the "F" word. The counselor sent him back to the building to be written up.

When he came into the building, he started to cry and told the center manager that he did not do anything wrong and that his mother uses that word all the time.

I wonder what his mother will say to that when she meets with the facility supervisor.

 Christmas Vacation

Well folks, the children are out from Orange County Schools from December 18, 2006, through January 2, 2007. So guess where some of the children get to go when their parents are working.

That's right! They come here to the neighborhood center for a holiday day camp.

From 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the children will be here hanging out at the center. Watching movies, shooting pool, playing ball games, and anything else we can do to keep them amused. Unfortunately, there will be no field trips like the ones we have to offer in the summer.

The center will be closed Christmas Day and the Tuesday after, so hopefully none of the parents will drop their children off thinking we will be here. I know that I am not, since I will be flying to Atlanta.

And the center will be closed on New Year's Day. We'll be hungover as well, so don't bring the little ones. We will see you on January 2 after we recover!

 Christmas Songs

Last Friday night, I was home watching Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. I have always enjoyed watching Rudolph, especially when Burl Ives' snowman comes on and sings. During the show, there is a scene of the elves choir at Santa's workshop singing "We are Santa's Elves".

As I was watching that, I remembered in my college days of working as a cook at Friendly's Food and Ice Cream. One of my co-workers would sing a song done to the tune of "We Are Santa's Elves". It goes something like this:

We are Friendly's slaves
Working to our graves
We work all day for little pay
Because we are Friendly's slaves

The manager heard him singing it and about had a fit.

I, on the other hand, was laughing my ass off.

Which is probably why I started laughing again when the elves started singing.

Why is it there are some things that you just don't forget, and they are as funny to you now just as it was then?
