Happy Halloween, Folks!
I received a question regarding my favorites list, and the person was wondering what criteria I used for picking out favorites. Basically, these are films that I can watch again and again and not get tired of them. A few of the films on my list I have in my DVD collection.
A few that didn't make the list that I also enjoyed are as follows:
Halloween: This John Carpenter classic almost makes my list.
The Others: It has Nicole Kidman. Enough said.

Seriously, this is a really great story. And no gore.
Shaun of the Dead: A parody of George Romero's "Living Dead" series. Has a few scenes of gore, but you'll be laughing your ass off.
Evil Dead 2: This sequel to Evil Dead is just as gory, but has more humor in it than the first one.
The Thing: Both the original with James Arnez and the John Carpenter remake with Kurt Russell. Be warned, Carpenter's remake is very graphic.
The Omen: I liked the original with Gregory Peck, but I passed on the remake that was released earlier this year. Both are on DVD.
An American Werewolf In London and The Howling. Two movies about werewolves that are quite scary, but also provides a few laughs.
A Nightmare On Elm Street. I always thought that this was one of the more original horror films made, where the villian attacks his victims while they are dreaming.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein: Robert DeNiro plays the monster in this one. This is my favorite Frankenstein next to the original version starring Boris Karloff.
Bram Stoker's Dracula: This Francis Ford Coppola version has Gary Oldman as Dracula and Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing. Worth checking out.
Carrie: Piper Laurie gave me the creeps in this Brian DePalma movie.
Dressed To Kill: Another Brian DePalma movie starring Michael Caine. This one is about a cross dressing serial killer.
Young Frankenstein: Has to be one of the funniest Frankenstein movies ever made. Leave it to Mel Brooks to have Dr. Frankenstein dancing on stage with top hat and cane along with his creation. Mel Brooks was able to use the actual set of the 1931 classic Frankenstein for filming this movie.
Well, I have to go. Take care, and have a great Halloween.
