If you are a big fan of the NFL, like me, then you are probably anxious for the NFL Draft to start tomorrow. And if you follow the latest lines regarding the draft, you are well aware by now that the Miami Dolphins have the Number One in the draft. Earlier this week, the Dolphins signed Jake Long, a offensive tackle from Michigan, to a five year deal. This makes him the top overall selection in this year's draft.
As the NFL commissioner would say, "The Saint Louis Rams are on the clock." The Rams have the second selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, and after Miami signed their draft choice, the NFL told the Rams that they must wait until Saturday before they begin.
From reading several mock drafts in different publications, the consensus is that the Rams are most likely to go defense and are interested in Chris Long, a defensive end from Virginia, Glenn Dorsey, a defensive tackle from LSU, and Vernon Gholston, a defensive end from Ohio State.
Now here is where it gets interesting. The Atlanta Falcons have the third selection in the first round. The Kansas City Chiefs have the fifth selection in the first round. Both teams are in need of a quarterback and a offensive tackle. Atlanta has six picks in the first three rounds. Along with their first round pick, they have three selections in the second round, and two selections in the third round.
The Kansas City Chiefs recently made a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, giving them defensive end Jared Allen for the Vikings' first round pick, which is the seventeenth pick in the first round, along with two selections in the third round. This gives the Chiefs six selections in the first three rounds.
Are you with me so far?
Now, many sports writers feel that the Atlanta Falcons will select the quarterback from Boston College, Matt Ryan, with their first round selection. As I mentioned before, the St. Louis Rams have the second pick. And it seems like they have other players in mind.
As for Kansas City, they have not had a franchise quarterback in ages. And over the years, the Chiefs have obtained quarterbacks either through trades or free agency. And with Atlanta selecting in the third spot, could they take Matt Ryan?
Even though the Saint Louis Rams have stated that they are staying with the second pick, I have a hunch that the Kansas City Chiefs are going to make an offer to the Rams in an attempt to trade up from the fifth spot into the second spot and draft Matt Ryan before Atlanta can make their selection.
Like I said, it is just a hunch. But if the Rams do make the trade, they will still be making a selection in the top five picks of the draft. And one of the three players I mentioned above that the Rams are interested in will still be available. Also, this gives St. Louis some additional draft choices.
Stay tuned. Because there may be some suspense to this NFL draft yet.
Yes I like to watch the draft just to see what the Seahawks go for.
Sometimes I do wonder, why did we go with this person in this slot when I think we need a better someone in this a different spot. Then theres the one where we don't want this player but everyone else does and since we have an early pick we will pick him and trade him later...
Enough about the draft for now, I am ready for some football, Looks like the Seahawks have a tough schedule. It would be tougher if the other three teams get stronger..

Hugggggggggggggggggggggggz,

It looks like the Seahawks got some help for their defensive line, picking defensive end Lawrence Jackson from USC in the first round. Then in the fourth round, they picked Red Bryant, a defensive tackle from Texas A&M. They picked tight end John Carlson from Notre Dame in the second round, although some NFL scouts had Fred Davis from USC ranked higher. And they bypassed Dustin Keller from Purdue in the first round.
As for the rest of the Seahawks draft, it looks like they went with running backs and help for the special teams. They did not address the need for a wide receiver or help on the offensive line. I still think the Seahawks miss guard Steve Hutchinson.
Good to hear from ya'! I try to write when I get a chance. And I'll try to stop in on your blog soon. Take care!
