Thoughts from a drinking buddy

 You Deserve A Break Today....
Back to Full Blog

Has anyone out there ever have a McDonald's McGriddle?

Once in awhile, I like to stop at McDonald's in the morning and get two breakfast sandwiches. The Sausage McMuffin is my favorite. I also like the Egg McMuffin, which has Canadian bacon. Until recently, the Sausage McMuffin was part of the McDonald's value menu, costing only one dollar. Then to my disappointment, it was removed from the value menu.

Up to a week ago, the McDonald's that is close to my work place had two Egg McMuffins for two dollars. So needless to say, I would stop in once a week and get my McMuffin fix.

This week, there are no more specials featuring the McMuffin sandwiches. They are, however, promoting a special on two McDonald's McGriddles for two dollars.

Now let me get this straight. The sandwich consists of a sausage patty between two pancake like buns with maple syrup baked inside?

Sorry folks, but I like my pancakes with a knife and fork. It just doesn't sound appealing to me. Which leads me to ask you, have you ever tried one? Let me know if you have.

Since McDonald's did away with the Sausage/Egg McMuffin for a dollar, I feel like my old friend, Rodney Dangerfield:

"I went to McDonald's for a break, and they told me I don't deserve one!"

Sounds a little bit like a pig in a blanket.

Whit,

A pig in the blanket that you are to eat using your hands.

I like my pig in the blanket with a lot of maple syrup poured over it.

And don't forget the butter!

calorie caveat:here is how each variety breaks down (calorie and fat content) according from the McDonald's website. Nutrition-wise, the McGriddles are: Bacon/Egg/Cheese McGriddle (460 calories, 21 grams of fat), Sausage/Egg/Cheese McGriddle (560 calories, 32 grams of fat), and Sausage McGriddle (420 calories, 22 grams of fat). When purchased as part of a breakfast value meal to include hash browns (140 calories, 8 grams of fat) and orange juice (medium, 180 calories), the meal puts a significant dent in a person's 2000 or 2500 calorie a day allowance...I pass on the McFood mostly myself, tho the occasional breffis sammich is permissible. I've had one & they ARE good, but VERY VERY fattening!!
It's different, & not something you'd eat very often.

BigChris,

This is why I seldom eat fast food anymore. I will usually go to McDonald's once a week for two breakfast sandwiches. Otherwise, I usually have cereal and juice in the morning. On the weekend, I will usually cook eggs, sausage, and toast a bagel.

Thanks for the calorie info, and thanks for stopping by.

Secret,

A fellow co-worker says they are good as well. I guess I am skeptical. I would probably prefer a bagel with cream cheese.

Personally, I didn't care for them, I've tried them. I'd much prefer the breakfast burrito if I were going for a breakfast item at MickeyDs!

I had one once when they first came out. I am not a big fan of Mcdonalds meat so it was a big deal for me to try one. But to my surprise, I liked it. It was actually good. You should try them, and once you do tell me what you think!

Miss Lou,

And if you are like me, you probably have plenty of butter and maple syrup on those pancakes, too!

Bella,

I will have to try a breakfast burrito from McDonald's sometime in the near future.
A fellow co-worker told me that she really likes the breakfast burrito that Sonic has.

Kendraplease,

If I try one and like it, you will be one of the first to know.

And if I try one and I don't like it, you will also be the first to know.

All joking aside, thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend.
