I decided to stay in tonight after I got off from work at the theme park. While I watched the news, I got on to the computer and looked up the television listings for tonight. So what is on Saturday Night Live?
In honor of George Carlin, who passed away earlier this week, NBC aired the first episode of Saturday Night Live, which was hosted by George Carlin. Musical guests were Billy Preston and Janus Ian.
Talk about a blast from the past! I remember watching this when it aired, and I remember watching Saturday Night Live during my years of high school. The NBC affiliate for Cleveland was WKYC. And after Saturday Night Live aired, Second City TV would come on. And I remember laughing my ass off the whole time.
The years have passed, and George Carlin passed away. Andy Kaufman, who made his first appearance on this program that Carlin hosted, also passed away. John Belushi and Gilda Radner left us as well. And Second City's John Candy, I miss the most.
I enjoyed watching this again as George Carlin talked about the differences between football and baseball. Too bad that he could not do his "Seven Words You Cannot Say On Television" routine on the program. That would have been classic.
I will miss George Carlin, since he was a part of my life growing up in Cleveland during the 70's. We would listen to his comedy albums, along with Cheech and Chong and Richard Pryor, and we would laugh our asses off. Are there any comedians out there today that are as good as these guys? I think not.
And I miss Rodney Dangerfield. And even though he said that he didn't get any respect, he sure had mine.
So now George has left, and more of the people that were in my youth go away. The people that made me laugh during those tough times of growing up. And I sure can use some good laughs now. Where's the old Second City when I need them. Especially Count Floyd?
So George, thanks for the laughs, and you will be missed. And it was nice to see you one more time.
Now if you excuse me, I am going to find those "seven words" on CD and put it in my collection.
I can use the laughs.

Have a lovely sunday.
n.
Carlin tried to wake us up and for it the media patronizes and labels him thereby labeling anyone we remotely understood or liked him.
Bless his heart and soul.
I know Johnny La Rue would have something to say!
Have a great Sunday afternoon.
Here are the seven dirty words.
With all the comedians that have passed away over the years, Heaven must have one great comedy club.
George Carlin and Gallagher were two of my favorite comedians who would make you think about what they talked about.
I still wonder what John Belushi's career would have been like if he had not died of an overdose. As for George Carlin, his routine about the difference between football and baseball is one of my favorites.
And even though it is not the greatest movies made, "Summer Rental" with John Candy is still one of my favorite comedies.
Although George Carlin was funny, there was a lot of truth to what he talked about.
here's my addy in case I haven't given it to ya.

Thanks for the video. And I promise not to use any of these words around the children at summer camp.
I would love to see if that is available on DVD. I was in elementary school when The Smothers Brothers Show was on, but I remember how funny they were.
I know I will miss George Carlin. I always thought that he was one of the best stand up comedians.
I will try to get over there to your new place soon. For now, thanks for stopping by.
I hope you and your family had a great Fourth of July!
I miss them too.
Huggggggggz,
Taylor
Misty tagged me, so now I have to let five people know how sweet they are.
So go and tag five people, sweetie!
Have a great day!
I think Dave Chappelle has that spirit in him. Maybe Chris Rock too. But can they carry over time like Carlin did? I think they could but we'll see. Adam Sandler has his moments, but he's not quite at the same level. David Spade? Nope. John Stewart? Maybe.
Good post, a nice trip down memory lane. Peace!
