LUNCHTIME!
And a long one at that. It is Friday, and everyone is preparing for the Memorial Day weekend. Some people may be starting their long weekend now, either taking today off, or working half a day. As for me, it has been a busy week. And since I worked an hour over, I will be leaving an hour early today. And I will start my weekend by doing laundry.
Might as well get it out of the way, since I have a busy weekend. I will be working at the park this weekend, and it should be busy. But with the way the weather has been, I think attendance will be down.
It has rained here in Orlando all week, and it is raining as I write this. There are areas of Seminole and Volusia counties that are experiencing flooding, and some streets are undrivable.
The rainfall amounts for this week alone has been more than the three hurricanes from 2004 combined. It is also more than what Tropical Storm Fay brought in 2008. Those figures come from the weather department of WFTV Channel 9 in Orlando, the ABC affiliate. The web site is www.wftv.com.
So it looks like a wet Memorial Day weekend is in store for us here in Orlando. How is the weather where you are at? And what do you have in store for Memorial Day?

I have Monday off, so that will be nice. I can think of several things I would like to do, but I think I will just play it by ear and do what I feel like doing. I did check out some DVDs from the library, and Night Bug at "Girl And Dog In The City" wrote about how good the new "Star Trek" movie is. So I may have to boldly go, as Captain Kirk would say at the beginning of each show, to the local cinema. Might as well, with the way this weather has been. I want to see "Drag Me To Hell", but that opens next weekend. That is directed by Sam Riami, who did the "Spider Man" and "Evil Dead" trilogies.
Want some fun? Rent the first "Evil Dead" DVD, and watch it with
the lights out!

Make sure the children are in bed and asleep before you do, though.

I will warn you, it is really intense!
Not much else is going on here. I have not heard anything regarding the city, but I am sure I will hear something come June. Game 2 of the NBA Eastern Championship is tonight. The Orlando Magic beat the Cleveland Cavs in the first game, 107-106. The Denver Nuggets beat the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Championship last night, so that series is tied 1-1. Got any predictions of which team will make the NBA Finals?

Many a fan here are wanting to see the Magic make it to the Finals, especially Mayor Buddy Dyer and the city council. That way, they have an excuse for building a new arena while city employees are being laid off and some schools may be closed due to lack of funding.

In this economy, somebody is making money. Sure as hell is not me.

And speaking of the economy, has anyone noticed that one of the people responsible for this mess, former vice president Dick Cheney, has made more appearances this week on the media than when he was in office. And here he is, critical of the new Obama administration. Can he just go back to his casket and lay there, or do we need to bring the garlic, crucifix, and wooden stake out?
Well, it is time for me to go. I have a few things to do here at the neighborhood center, then I clock out at 4:00 p.m. Then I can start my Memorial Day weekend. And be careful. Smokey will be out this weekend to make sure that you are buckled up.
Don't complain about Dick Cheney. I am happy to see him circulating. With only 21% of voters identifying themselves as Republicans, it's nice to see our most unpopular former VP in a dual with our very popular President. And then there's Rush Limbaugh. He has 14 million listeners, but that is not a sufficient number to elect a president.
I think I have every right to complain about Dick Cheney. Because of the actions taken by the previous administration, many people in this country have been hurt. And as you say, 21% of the voters identify themselves as Republican. After the mess the Republican party has gotten us into, they should be shamed and embarrassed. Ever since 9/11, the mentality for the Republican party has been, "I'm getting mine while I can and fuck you!" And now we have seen the result of that thinking.
And what real bothers me is during the years George Bush was in office, you rarely saw Dick Cheney. The only exception was when the Republicans needed the votes to push a bill that only benefited the rich. And now, here is a president trying his best to get the country back on its feet, only for this person who bears responsibility for this mess trying to put the spin on things.
And speaking of Rush Limbaugh. I think he is one of the biggest pieces of human shit to walk the planet. It angers me that the party he supports got us into this mess, and when the newly elected president took office and started to take action, Rush Limbaugh announced on his radio show that he hopes President Obama fails. How in the hell can a person wish for failure when someone is attempting to get this country back on its feet.
I have been busy with work the past few weeks. I also have lost interest in this blog. I hope you are doing well, and have a great weekend.
I will be watching Game One of the NBA Finals tonight, My team, the Orlando Magic, will be playing the Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout the series with the Cleveland Cavaliers, many Magic fans were critical of the officiating. Many people felt that the NBA wanted Cleveland to win so that the NBA and ABC, the network carrying the NBA FInals, could have a Kobe/LeBron matchup. I am originally from Cleveland, so watching this series was tough for me, since I like both teams. But there were times I watched the games and seen several calls against the Magic that were questionable.
A friend of mine once was a Orlando Magic fan along with her ex-husband. After her divorce, she started dating, and eventually married, a man who happens to be a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. They will be watching the Penguins play the Detroit Red Wings. So, it is obvious that I will have to cheer on Pittsburgh. Which is hard for me, since I am from Cleveland. There is a co-worker in our department who is from Detroit, and he is a Red Wings fan. But he is something of an asshole, running his mouth all the time. So I would not mind seeing him eat some crow. Or octopus, for that matter.
I heard that Kolbe had his way tonight with Orlando - I didn't watch either game - I was at work...

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you are doing well. I am fine, but I have been busy at work. I will try to put up a new post over the weekend. Take care, and have a great Fourth of July!
Have a great Fourth of July! Stay safe, and I'll stop in at your bus stop soon.
